SUBSTRATE DIAGNOSIS:
SUBSTRATE CONSISTENCY TEST
Lay off a cloth (or a sponge) on the substrate; if it gets dirty and the surface gets softened, all the powdery and friable layers must be removed by sanding the whole substrate. Besides, all the parts being not attached or adherent shall be removed and then restored using special products.
OLD PAINT ADHESION TEST
Complete the checkering test to verify the adhesiveness of an old smooth paint. Using a cutter, nick some small squares (2mm side) on a 4-5 cm of the surface. The paint will be adherent if 70-80% of the squares remains attached on the substrate. Repeat the test in different zones.
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
SUBSTRATE ASPECT TEST
Any wall imperfection shall be shimmed in order to attain a uniform surface. The substrate shall be sound, dry, clean and definitely coherent.
PREPARATION
It is recommended to complete a light sanding or brushing in order to eliminate dust, dirt, or not attached surface materials.
